Purchasing a home is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make. Unlike, typical purchases like groceries and gift buying, buying a home isn’t something most people do every day which means you should have the best possible guidance in making the most informed decision for you and your family.
That means having a strong and reliable realtor by your side through the entire process. So, what should you look for when choosing a realtor to work with when buying (or selling) a home? Here are a few suggestions:
- Chemistry Is Key.
While you aren’t marrying the person, this person will be very influential in one of if not the biggest purchases in your life. You want to have good chemistry with that person as even though they work for you, you want them to really see what you are looking for and not just be thinking about their commission. A good rule of thumb is to interview at least 3 agents before picking one to work with.
- What Type of Support Do They Have.
There are for sure not a lack of realtors out there these days and a good thing to find out before you start working with them is the type of support they have. A realtor who has support is able to offer a high level of customer service and with many realtors working with multiple clients simultaneously, you want to make sure nothing falls through the cracks and something gets missed. That’s because there is a tremendous amount of logistics involved when buying or selling a home and one small mishap can cause the entire process to fall apart.
- Referrals Are Everything.
If you know someone who recently bought or sold a home and had a great experience working with that realtor, more than likely they will work out great for you as well. In contrast, if they had a lousy experience with realtor, you should probably stay away from them. Working with someone you know is always ideal if possible.
Alliant Title and Escrow is here for you to make sure you have the smoothest closing experience possible. We would be happy though to refer you to some great realtors that will look out for your interests and not theirs should you be in the market of buying or selling.
